News Updates

Interview Update

We have done over 80 life course interviews.

Some of the co-researchers have been helping us make sense of the data.

Place Study Update

We have sent out 32 tablets for the Place Study.

Data analysis will start in November.

Ethics Application has been Approved

We have the ethics approved for Social Network Mapping and Organisational Interviews.

This means we can start to do two new kinds of interviews.

Organisational Interviews

We have completed 16 organisational interviews so far.

Some of the organisations we have interviewed are cafes, a library, the police and an inclusion group.

We are Looking for More Participants

We are still looking for people to take part in IncludeAge.

Do you know anyone who is over 40 years old with a learning disability or who is LGBT+?

Just let us know by replying to this email.

Outreach

Joe Visited Skye in Scotland

Our researcher Joe went to Skye in Scotland.

This is a very remote place which will help us with the project.

He interviewed 4 people about their life histories and experiences of living in Skye.

A Research Article has been Submitted to Qualitative Enquiry Journal

The article looks at how members of IncludeAge built inclusion in the project.

They did this by running a poetry activity for some of our team members.

The members worked together to write a poem.

You can read the poem HERE

Meetings about Policy in Scotland

In September Judith attended the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Older People, Age and Ageing.

She talked about the need for joined up policy across housing, health and social care to enable more older people from all walks of life to be supported and included in their communities to live the best quality of life that is possible.

Judith has been invited to present on the IncludeAge project at the next meeting.

Research Presentation

Kathryn and Richard visited Portugal in September.

They presented a paper at the First International Forum on LGBTQI+ Ageing in Southern Europe at the University of Coimbra.

The title of their paper was "Anywhere that Looks Friendly". They talked about different ways of finding LGBT+ friendly spaces and places throughout life.

Equality and Human Rights in Scotland

Judith, Laura and Joe have an upcoming meeting with representatives of the Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland.

The meeting will be to look at ways to connect with the project and the wider community.
