Welcoming Anastasia

We will be welcoming a student named Anastasia from Ukraine this summer, to support us with data analysis. Anastasia is funded by the MITACS global link programme and will be housed at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver under the supervision of Mei. Her main focus will be undertaking thematic analysis of organizational interview data. 

Well Done to Kathryn and Richard

 Congratulations to Kathryn and Richard on the acceptance of their abstract “It’s very easy to go back’: Caring about the concerns of older LGBTQ+ people who fear the loss of their rights”, for the British Society of Gerontology 54th conference this coming summer.  

Congratulations Judith and IncludeAge Team

The IncludeAge team has also had an abstract titled “Ageing across Everyday Physical Places and Virtual Spaces: Using an Experience Sampling Method to understand the Inclusion of Older People with Learning Disabilities and Older LGBT+ People” accepted to the British Society of Gerontology conference this summer.  

Data Generation Update

Life Course Interviews:

We have completed over 120 Life Course Interviews with mid-older aged people who have a Learning Disability. or who are LGBT+  across the project. 

The Place Study:

327 Place Study surveys have been submitted so far, from a total of 44 participants. We have completed 11 follow up interviews and created Story Maps with participants who have finished sending in surveys already. 

Social Network Mapping: 

We have now created 7 social network maps and have several more planned over the next few weeks. These participants have now completed all parts of the IncludeAge Study!

Organisational Interviews:

We have completed 41 organisational interviews with age-related, learning disability focused, LGBT+ focused and general community organisations. We plan to do a further 40 or so of these interviews before summer. 

Project Outputs Update

We have completed our second annual submission to Research Fish, a website that our funding body uses to keep track of the project's outcomes. We are really pleased to share that so far we have: 

31 publications

12 collaborations and partnerships

5 records of further funding (linked directly to IncludeAge)

26 engagement activities

3 research methods and tools developed as part of IncludeAge

and 5 artistic and creative products

By this time next year we are expecting to have increased these numbers even further 🙂 

Well Done Judith

Judith has been awarded an Academy of Medical Sciences grant of £24,313 with Prof Vina Tan at the University Sains Malaysia for a project that is linked to IncludeAge. The project is entitled: "Networking and research enrichment on applying community-based participatory research for healthy ageing in older people (CPR4Health): Bridging gaps across disciplines and communities”.

Judith and Mei Receive New Funding

Congratulations to Judith and Mei who have received a new Canadian Institutes of Health Research  funded project entitled “Empowering older adults as co-researchers to drive climate action and build resilient communities”, which aims to engage seniors as co-researchers, and empower them to shape climate-resilient communities and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Judith and Mei publish a Related Report

Judith and Mei have published a report from another project, related to IncludeAge, named “ICE-TEA: International Consortium on Ethics in Technology and Aging: Achievements and Future Directions for AGE-WELL Catalyst Program in Healthy Aging Initiative on Ethical AgeTech”. This can be read HERE
