News Updates

Important News!

Our Project Will End July 2026

We have been given an extension for our project.

This means we have an extra 6 months to finish all of our work.

The project will now finish in July 2026.

Steering Group Meeting

We had our 8th Steering Group Meeting last week.

Everyone who works in the IncludeAge Project was invited. Some people came to Nottingham and some people used Zoom.

In the meeting we talked about what we have already done and what we will do next.

People from our Discovery Community Group talked about using things like Easy Read, Talking Mats, photos and podcasts can be helpful to make people feel included.

They also talked about how important it is to feel respected.

People from the Gold Community Group talked about how much they liked learning about data analysis.

Interview Update

We have done 120 Life Course Interviews with mid-older aged people who have Learning Disabilities, or who are LGBT+.

Our co-researchers did 46 of these interviews.

We have started to make sense of what is in 67 of the interviews so far.

The Place Study

The Place Study is the part of the project where people use tablets to tell us about how they feel about different places they are in.

We have sent out more than 40 tablets now and have had 300 reports about where people have been so far.

Our next step for this part of the project is to make Story Maps with people, using their words, maps, photos and voice messages.

Organisational Interviews

We have done about 35 Organisational Interviews so far. We plan to do another 45.

We are interested in hearing about how organisations are inclusive.

The organisations we want to interview are part of our communities, organisations that focus on older people, organisations that are focused on people with learning disabilities, and organisations that are focused on people who are LGBT+.

The Next Parts of the Project

We are starting the next parts of our project.

In these parts we will run workshops with people who have learning disabilities, people who are LBGT+ and people who work to change communities.

The workshops will happen in Scotland and England. They will be about inclusion.

We will ask questions like 'What needs to change to make inclusion better?' and 'Who can make these changes?'.

Outreach

Judith Met with Other Project Leads

Judith met with some other people who are doing projects about helping older people feel more included.

She gave a presentation about the IncludeAge project and a lot of people were interested in what we have been doing.

New Resources

Register for an Online Conference about Life Transitions

Some people from the IncludeAge project are involved in a conference.

This conference will happen online and will be free.

The conference will be about transitions and changes that people experience during different times of life.

Free Online Video about Research

A research organisation called Sage have made an online video about doing research with historically marginalised communities.

This means groups of people who have not been listened to in the past.
