In May 2026 we celebrated the end of the IncludeAge project by holding an event at Dundee University. Many people joined us, including members of the community, community advisory group members, co-researchers, co-applicants, researchers, and lots of other people who have supported IncludeAge along the way. There were opportunities during the day to hear about our findings, explore our exhibition displays, watch videos about co-researcher experiences and to try out our new serious game.
It was a fantastic (and busy!) day, with some mixed feelings: Pride and achievement at all we have managed to do over the past 3.5 years, empathy and curiosity about our project and some of our findings, and camaraderie and friendship between colleagues and strangers alike. There was also some sadness that the relationships built over the course of the project will inevitably change, but of course, that is an opportunity for new things to flourish.
So, to try to summarise our whole project is too big a task for one blog – although the event marked the official end of our project, we will continue with some tasks such as some workshops, writing for publications, reports and conference presentations, and of course data archiving until the end of 2026.
We will continue to be proud of all that has been achieved so far, whilst recognising there is still such a long road to travel for community inclusion.
